Oregon Scientific BAR386A-BK Wireless Weather Forecaster with Temperature Display and Self-Setting Atomic Clock, Black

Cheap Oregon Scientific BAR386A-BK Wireless Weather Forecaster with Temperature Display and Self-Setting Atomic Clock, Black Review

This was easy to set-up. I placed it next to two other inside thermometers, and the Oregon Scientific reads within .4 degrees of the two others. I placed the outdoor sensor under the northeastern eave and, at near-freezing, it reads 1.4 degrees warmer than the nearby Weather Underground sensor (wunderground.com). My only complaint is that there is no backlight feature -- but that would probably drain batteries too quickly.

Oregon Scientific Weather Forecaster with Temperature Display and Self-Setting Atomic Clock

Cheap Oregon Scientific Weather Forecaster with Temperature Display and Self-Setting Atomic Clock Review

Bought on impulse to maybe give as a gift but decided to keep it when I saw how cute it was. The size is just right (one that I already have is bigger) but the display is still large and clear enough without taking up much space. All the details are displayed so you can get a quick read of time (atomic so no need to adjust), day, date, weather trend, in and out temps and barometric pressure (rising or dropping) and moon phase. And the price was right too (bought on sale)

Oregon Scientific PSM06A-G Full Weather Station, Multi Medium, Gray

Cheap Oregon Scientific PSM06A-G Full Weather Station, Multi Medium, Gray Review

This is the best of 6 different weather stations I have used from Oregon Scientific and La Cross Technologies. My requirements are pretty simple but unfulfilled by most other units:
* A display I can read from across the room: Partial check, I can easily read the time but most other functions are small.
* Simultaneous display of in-room and remote temperature: Check, plus it can cycle among 3 remote stations continuously.
* Aesthetically pleasing: Big check, this is one of the nicest looking weather units. Its remote sensor also looks good and has a large display.

In addition to weather functions, this unit also has alarm, ceiling display, and radio functions. Each of these is flawed. The alarm is awkward to set, thought probably not more than many digital clocks. The ceiling display is only on when the top button is depressed, which also turns on the clock light. What's the point of the ceiling display? Finally, the radio has mediocre sound.

Contrary to other reviews, I find that this unit has excellent reception. I have had no problems with it in over a month. I have ordered three more units. A second for myself and two others for gifts.

As with most weather stations, the controls are not very intuitive. Those that are most commonly used are reasonable. The others require reference to the user manual for each use.

At around this unit is a very good value. At list price, it is most definitely not.
